Renovations & Construction of Hotels in Southeastern U.S. In 2018

The construction and renovations hospitality industry in the Southeastern United States, Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina is expected to be an investment that will see continued gains in 2018.

“Based on our analysis of the economic and operating environments, we believe that U.S. hotels will once again achieve record occupancy levels and continued growth in profits, during the upcoming year.” Mark Woodworth, senior managing director of CBRE Hotels’ Americas Research, said in a statement.

Today’s travelers are seeking authentic experiences with emotional connections, whether it is for business or pleasure. This is impacting the design of new hospitality construction as well as renovation projects.

As the hotel industry gains momentum, the design trends have evolved

Hotels across the Southeastern United States are focusing on authentic experiences.

Creating a more interactive experience for guest and visitors with flexible areas for both play and work, cafes, social hubs, computer stations, game rooms, and libraries.  Incorporating design elements that are flexible, so they can easily change with the guests’ preferences.

Living spaces

Larger lobbies have led to floor plans with more efficient and smaller guest rooms. Flat screen TVs and appliances take up less room and architectural designs have given way to the illusion of spaces that feel bigger, such as glazed surfaces.

Greener and Cleaner Construction

Whether it is an existing building renovating with cleaner, more efficient materials or new construction that becomes certified with the LEED credit list, both will see big payoffs. The hospitality industry has become a big component of the urban environment.

Neighborhood

Neighborhoods can become an essential part of the hotel. An active social setting with shops, restaurants, and cafes.

The key to a successful project is to stand out from the competitors. New construction and upgrades of existing properties will need to focus on high tech and ‘green’ construction. A key factor for continued growth will be to understand the demographics and achieving their needs.
